Blue Team

Compete as a Blue Team member by defending your network and services from the Red Team! The Blue Team represents the primary competitors at the CDC.

Registration for the Blue Team typically opens four weeks before the challenge and will be announced on Discord. Once registration opens, participants can sign up here.

After registering, Blue Team members can form teams and will be granted access to the challenge network and machines.

There are a variety of challenges for a range of skills and age levels.

ISU Students

Defend your network in the ISU Cyber Defense Challenges, held twice a year during the spring and fall semesters.

Community College Students

Participate in the Community College Cyber Defense Challenge (C3DC), held annually in the fall semester. Ask your professors if your college is involved, and if not, please email ISEAGE to express your interest!

Other College and International Students

Join the International Cyber Defense Challenge (ICDC) in the spring semester, either in person or remotely. International and national teams that are not eligible for ISU1, ITO, or C3, as well as the top three teams from the previous year’s ISU1, ITO, and C3, are invited to participate. We are always looking for new colleges and universities to join; please contact ISEAGE if you are interested.

High School Students

Take part in the High School CDC in the spring semester and showcase your skills. Ask your school’s technology teacher how to get involved, or email ISEAGE if your school has not previously participated.

Guest Division

To provide more opportunities to participate in the CDCs, we allow crossover between the high school and community college challenges through a guest division. Teams in this division will be scored, but are not eligible for placement. They may receive lower priority for graded checks, assignments, and Red Team engagement. Remote participation is preferred, as space for additional teams may be limited.

Red Team

Practice your security skills and support the CDC by volunteering as a Red Team member. You will test Blue Team environments by identifying vulnerabilities, capturing flags, and disrupting services.
Red Team members receive free food and drinks, as well as a Red Team beanie. ISEAGE maintains a list of potential Red Team participants and sends out invitations before each CDC. If you are a cybersecurity professional, you are encouraged to contact ISEAGE to be added to this list.

Green Team

Spend a day immersed in the CDC environment by volunteering as a Green Team member. Green Team participants simulate real users within the challenge scenario and play a key role in various CDC activities.
Green Team members receive free food and drinks, along with a Green Team beanie. If you are interested in volunteering for an upcoming CDC, please contact the ISEAGE team.

White Team

The White Team is responsible for managing and overseeing the entire challenge. This team includes the challenge director, ISEAGE network engineers, and administrative staff. Participation in the White Team is limited to ISEAGE employees and experienced CDC veterans.
